It was during Lori’s undergraduate studies when she began to take a special interest in writing and creating innovative lesson ideas, stories, and interactive bulletins to be used in the classroom.  Often incorporating high quality children’s literature, music, and props into her lessons, Lori found that the students she worked with “learned best” when they were: held to the highest of standards, encouraged to use their imagination and construct their own knowledge.

Lori’s original ideas, strategies, and lessons not only earned her the nickname “Idea Lady,” they proved to be successful as she saw a significant increase in student motivation, interest, and learning.  Catching the attention of teachers, parents and even the bus driver, it seemed that everyone wanted to find out what Lori was doing to get students so excited about learning.

After several teachers approached her about her ideas, Lori began to see the true value of her teaching style.  Sharing her enthusiasm for education and imagination with Ted, the two of them found that together they had a dynamic and contagious creative energy for creating educational products and programs for children.

In 2006, Ted and Lori combined their talents to form Touché EDI.

In September of 2007, Touché EDI released Spiders, Bats and Wolves…Oh My!—an educational music CD filled with fun songs perfectly pit
ched for every learner. Spiders, Bats and Wolves…Oh My! overflows with vocabulary words, interesting facts, tongue twisters, and topics designed to get kids excited about the world around them.

In May of 2008, Pennsylvania State Senator, John Gordner honored Touché EDI for their ingenuity, perseverance and entrepreneurial spirit. Senator Gordner congratulated Touche’ EDI on being one of Pennsylvania’s outstanding businesses and an excellent example for small business owners in the Commonwealth.

Today, along with Mr. Arachnid—the misunderstood spider and few of his bug eating friends, the company makes special visits to libraries, classrooms, and bookstores, where they celebrate imagination and knowledge with kids and adults alike.
